It certainly appears to be a materials problem on the disc; I've tried three different optical drives and two different operating systems with only a 5% success rate. I suggest you keep your money and lobby EA or BioWARE to send you a new disc. If offered, I would even take a credit for a Steam download at this point, or some 3rd party download of a bug free .iso.
